History
I have lived most of my life in Miami, Florida. I know the people, the culture and the language.
After graduating from Coral Gables Sr. High School, I attended and graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. I then attended and graduated from the law school at the University of Florida in 1982. I was fortunate enough to be hired prior to graduation and began my legal career within weeks of my graduation ceremonies.
In 1983 I began going down the path that has brought me to where I am today. In 1983 I was hired by Janet Reno as one of her prosecutors where I remained until 1986.
During my tenure as a prosecutor I tried from the simplest case to the most complex. I distinguished myself as a trial attorney, which has been, and remains my passion. As a seasoned trial lawyer I was ready to begin protecting individuals’ rights.
In 1986, I became a criminal defense lawyer. While I received great satisfaction as a prosecutor, the greatest professional satisfaction I’ve ever received was having innocent clients acquitted after a long and tough fight against the government and it’s formidable resources. I remain committed to the idea that we as citizens, and I as a lawyer, have to scream as loudly as we can when the government attempts to violate our rights. I remain committed to the idea that we must fight and fight hard to keep those rights.
Throughout my career I have had the honor to represent many fine people. I have also fulfilled my duty to represent many who have been vilified by the community I live in. No matter who my client was I have always represented them zealously and passionately. Always protective of the precious rights we all share.
My commitment to our individual rights and my efforts to preserve those rights have brought me to where I am today. I have been doing the same thing for close to a quarter of a century. I plan to continue doing so for as long as I am capable because it remains my passion.
